BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

ADOPT A RESOLUTION:

1)

TO ACCEPT A DONATION FOR SAFETY EQUIPMENT FOR THE BOMB SQUAD;

2)

WAIVING THE COUNTY’S COMPETITIVE BID PROCESS; AND

3)

APPROVING AN APPROPRIATION TRANSFER REQUEST IN THE AMOUNT OF $58,941, ESTABLISHING A BUDGET APPROPRIATION AND REVENUE FOR THE PURCHASE; AND

4)

AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REMOTEC WIRELESS SYSTEM

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

WHEREAS, a member of the community who wishes to remain private wishes to donate funds through the Silicon Valley Foundation for the purchase of a Remotec Robot Wireless System and related supplies to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad; and

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad has a need of said equipment in order to increase its remote operational safe distance while dealing with suspected improvised explosive devices; and

WHEREAS, for compatibility purposes, the wireless remote system for the Bomb Squad robot can only be purchased from the manufacturer, Remotec, Inc.;

WHEREAS, this donation will be used for the enhancement of the Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad equipment for the safety of the team and San Mateo County residents;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT THE: President of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to accept a donation in the amount of $58,941.00 from a member of the community for the purchase of a wireless system for the Sheriff’s Bomb Squad robot.
