COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE

2008 Women In County Government Public Service, The Extra Mile Award Recipient

WHEREAS, CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE is a Deputy Probation Officer assigned to supervision of the Phase I component of the Bridges Treatment Program and also works intake, which oversees the recruitment of potential participants for the Program; and, since her arrival to this position in 2005, has exceeded all job expectations and made outstanding contributions to the most intensive Drug Program in the San Mateo County Court curriculum; and

WHEREAS, CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE has fully embraced the philosophy of the Probation Department and the Bridges Program, which sees clients every weekday, randomly on weekends and at both their homes and employment, making it one of the most intensely supervised units in the Adult Probation system; and

WHEREAS, CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE is a believer in communication and in immediate intervention, making herself available to all participants in the program by providing her cell phone number on a 24/7 basis, which sends an important message of care in providing assistance to those in need, any time of the day or night; and, CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE made an immediate impact on her peers who have also adopted the practice of providing 24/7 access through cell phones, which is not a requirement of management, but which has been effective in dealing with the many needs of the County’s addicted, criminal population; and

WHEREAS, CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE is constantly looking for employment opportunities for her clients, making sure they have all of their allotted benefits, encouraging their efforts to improve their education, and assisting them in many other ways; and

WHEREAS, CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE is a true believer in “giving back” to the community and has implemented this philosophy by teaching the value of volunteering to her clients, whose enthusiastic response netted over 2,000 hours of volunteer service to the community last year,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends CHRISTINE S. LAPUYADE for her leadership, dedication and commitment and extends congratulations for being named the recipient of the Women In County Government 2008 Public Service, The Extra Mile Award.
