RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING

Hon. Jerry Hill

For

10 Years of Service to San Mateo County

WHEREAS, Jerry Hill first took office as the county supervisor for District 2 in January 1999, and was re-elected twice: in 2002 and 2006; previously, Jerry served eight years on the San Mateo city council, including a year as mayor in 1994; and

   

WHEREAS, for the past decade as supervisor, Jerry has focused on several significant issues and challenges, including health care, transportation, homelessness, economic development and environmental protection; and

   

WHEREAS, additionally, Jerry has represented the county on various local and regional policy-setting bodies, including the San Mateo County Transit District Board, the San Mateo Medical Center Board, the CalTrain Joint Powers Board, the Transbay Terminal Joint Powers Authority, the California State Association of Counties, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the California Air Resources Board; and

   

WHEREAS, Jerry spearheaded the creation of the county’s Citizens Academy to help members of the public improve their understanding of county government; Jerry also advocated for uniform Customer Feedback Surveys for all county departments and initiated the Shared Vision 2010 process; and

   

WHEREAS, Jerry’s unwavering dedication to the overall Peninsula community is underscored by his tireless work on the advisory bodies of multiple local organizations, including the San Mateo Youth Foundation, the San Mateo Police Activities League, the College of San Mateo, the Notre Dame de Namur University School of Sciences, Sustainable San Mateo, Service League of San Mateo County and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County recognizes and commends Supervisor Jerry Hill for 10 years of dedicated service to the people and places of San Mateo County. The Board expresses its gratitude and extends sincere wishes to Jerry for many more decades of continued excellence.
