RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING

 

RICH ALLEN

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Rich Allen has been named the 2008 Resource Conservation District Director of the Year; and

   

WHEREAS, the Director of the Year Award is given by the 103 member California Association of Resource Conservation Districts and recognizes the Resource Conservation District director who has most demonstrated leadership and involvement in local conservation programs, conservation education and regional, state and national conservation efforts; and

   

WHEREAS, through Rich Allen’s leadership the San Mateo County Resource Conservation District has created many innovative programs including the Watershed Discovery Workshop that has provided hands-on outdoor and laboratory instruction to nearly 300 fifth graders to help them learn about watersheds and pollution sources; and

WHEREAS, Rich Allen’s leadership in conservation has not only applied to the Resource Conservation District, but to other public efforts as well: he is a founding member of the Coastside Horse Council which encourages conservation among equestrians and he serves on the County’s Confined Animal Technical Advisory Committee; and

   

WHEREAS, through his work in conservation and through his numerous volunteer activities including coaching girl’s basketball and hosting juvenile detention groups on his ranch, Rich Allen has made San Mateo County a better place to live.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby recognize the efforts of Rich Allen upon being named the Resource Conservation District Director of the Year and wishes him continued success in the future.
