ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH PHILLIP WILLIAMS AND ASSOCIATES FOR THE PREPARATION OF DESIGN PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE COYOTE POINT PROMENADE, EXTENDING THE TERM THROUGH JULY 30, 2009 AND INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY $29,799 TO $170,178

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on January 9, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with Phillip Williams and Associates, Inc. to prepare design plans and specifications for the long term repair of the Coyote Point Promenade; and;

 

    WHEREAS, based on the Park Commission’s review and approval of a

preferred alternative at their March 8, 2008 meeting, the parties wish to amend their prior agreement to include the following elements in the Final Design Plans and Specifications in Phase 2 of the project:

 

A new shoreline alignment and beach along the eastern half of the shoreline. The shoreline realignment entails excavation and off haul or reuse of the fill.

Addition of improved windsurfer access as a design component for the western shore and consisting of an articulated block mat overlay of an engineered rock revetment.

Retrofitting of the remaining eastern parking lot using storm water pollution prevention best management practices such as vegetated drainage ways.

 

WHEREAS, revisions to CEQA and permitting have been made to accommodate the changes in project scope and budget; and

WHEREAS, the contract amount shall increase $29,799 from $140,379 to $170,178 and the term to complete the project shall be extended from January 9, 2009 to July 30, 2009.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of the Department of Parks is hereby authorized and directed to execute an amendment to the agreement with Phillip Williams and Associates, Inc., which was originally approved by the Board of Supervisors on January 9, 2007, to complete preparation of the Design Plans and specifications for the Coyote Point Promenade, extending the term through July 30, 2009 and increasing the amount by $29,799 to $170,178.
