TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Adrienne J. Tissier

SUBJECT:

Re-appointment to the Arts Commission

RECOMMENDATION:

Re-appoint Susan Salamy of Daly City as a member of the Arts Commission. If approved, this re-appointment to the 5th District’s seat would be through January 5, 2013, Ms. Salamy’s first, four-year term.

BACKGROUND:

The 5th District’s seat on the Arts Commission became open in late 2007, when former Commissioner Robin Leiter resigned. In January 2008, this Board appointed Ms. Salamy to complete the balance of Ms. Leiter’s term, through January 5, 2009.

Ms. Salamy has requested re-appointment to the Arts Commission.

Ms. Salamy has served on the Daly City Planning Commission and remains an active member of that community. Her civic engagement includes significant experience and volunteer work with the Peninsula Partnership Program; Daly City’s Police Athletic League; Seton Foundation; and Daly City’s Women’s Day Awards Committee, among others.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and has worked to bring art and literacy programs to four school districts.

I believe Ms. Salamy’s collective knowledge and experiences will continue to be assets for the Arts Commission as well as the County as a whole.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
