Board of Supervisors Appointments to the HEART Board of Directors

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Reappoint Supervisors Richard Gordon and Rose Jacobs Gibson to the Board of Directors of the Housing Endowment and Regional Trust (HEART), for a term of 3 years commencing on February 28, 2009.

 

VISION ALLIGNMENT:

The County’s participation in HEART supports the Shared Vision 2010 Commitment of offering a full range of housing choices, and supports goal 9: Housing exists for people at all income levels and for all generations of families.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Housing Endowment and Regional Trust (HEART) is a housing trust fund, structured as a joint powers authority, made up of the County of San Mateo, 14 cities in San Mateo County, and interested private stakeholders, including labor, business, finance, real estate and non-profits. HEART is charged with raising funds from public and private sources to meet critical housing needs in San Mateo County.

 

The Board of Directors of HEART is made up of 21 individuals representing the various public and private interests listed above. The Board of Supervisors is allowed two appointments to the Board of Directors.

 
 

DISCUSSION:

Both Supervisors Gordon and Jacobs Gibson have served on the Board of Directors of HEART since its inception, and their continued service with HEART will contribute to its further success.
