RESOLUTION RE-APPOINTING CHILDREN’S COLLABORATIVE ACTION TEAM AS THE CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION COORDINATING COUNCIL AND AS THE DESIGNATED AB2994 CHILD ABUSE TRUST FUND COMMISSION FOR DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION FUNDS FOR THE TERM OF JULY 1, 2008 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011

WHEREAS, the Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council Act, adopted in 1985 and set forth in Welfare and Institutions Code sections 18980 through 18983.8, evidenced the Legislature’s intention that a ”Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council” be established in each California County; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1989, the California Legislature passed AB 2994, which created the California State Children’s Trust Fund to promote programs to help and support families with children at risk for abuse or neglect, and which established that each County’s Board of Supervisors may designate an existing local voluntary commission, board, or council to carry out duties primarily related to the prevention of child abuse and neglect as well as related intervention activities; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board determines it is in the County’s best interest to re-appoint CCAT as San Mateo’s Child Abuse Prevention Council and designate CCAT as the Child Abuse Trust Fund Commission for distribution of child abuse prevention funds for the term July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo that said Board of Supervisors, pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code section 18982, hereby designates, approves and reaffirms the San Mateo County Children’s Collaborative Action Team as the community council in San Mateo County whose primary purpose is to coordinate San Mateo County’s efforts to prevent and respond to child abuse; and, pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code section 18965, hereby re-appoints the San Mateo County Children’s Collaborative Action Team as the Designated AB 2994 Child Abuse Trust Fund Commission for distribution of child abuse prevention funds.
