RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING | ||||
The San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women | ||||
Upon the Celebration of the | ||||
25th Anniversary of the Women’s Hall of Fame | ||||

WHEREAS, in 1984, the San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women established a Women's Hall of Fame to highlight and honor women leaders, who are often unacknowledged and unrecognized; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the annual inductees stem from all backgrounds and fields, public and private, and have each made significant contributions in tireless service to their communities or professions – or sometimes both; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in 1992, the commission added the "Young Women of Excellence" category to the Women's Hall of Fame, to recognize outstanding female youth of San Mateo County for their achievements in civic involvement, academics as well as personal acts of courage; and | ||||
WHEREAS, since 1984, the Commission on the Status of Women has inducted more than 260 outstanding Peninsula women and girls into the Women’s Hall of Fame, including the eight inductees for the 2009 25th anniversary class. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates the San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women upon the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Women’s Hall of Fame. The Board expresses its gratitude to every nominee and inductee to the Hall of Fame and extends sincere wishes to the commission for at least another quarter century of continuous success and excellence. | ||||
