THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE WEEK OF MARCH 15-21, 2009 AS
|
|
CALIFORNIA MEDIATION WEEK
|
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
|
WHEREAS, the third week in March is traditionally recognized as Mediation Week; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, during this week, many California courts, local governments, community dispute resolution programs and private mediation organizations hold events to inform the public about the availability and benefits of mediation programs; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, our society has become increasingly contentious, leading to social disharmony and a greater need for dispute adjudication agencies; and
|
|
WHEREAS, in an effort to improve relations among citizens, neighbors and family, many people have turned to mediation; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, the San Mateo County Bar Association and Multi-Option ADR Project are sponsoring Mediation Week 2009.
|
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby designates the week of March 15-21, 2009 as California Mediation Week and expresses sincere appreciation to our citizens who are working diligently to assist fellow citizens and local agencies in addressing conflict resolution needs.
