RESOLUTION:

1.

AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH JOHNSON CONTROLS, INC. FOR THE DESIGN, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM AND ALARM INTRUSION SYSTEM FOR THE MEDIUM SECURITY FACILITY IN LA HONDA, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $111,979.08, FOR A TERM COMMENCING MARCH 1, 2009 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2010; AND

2.

AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE AMENDMENTS AND MINOR MODIFICATIONS TO THIS AGREEMENT NOT TO EXCEED AN AGGREGATE OF $25,000 AND/OR MODIFY THE AGREEMENT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, in October 2008, the County conducted a Request for Proposals (RFP) process to identify and select a vendor to install and maintain a video surveillance system and an alarm intrusion system at the Medium Security Facility in La Honda; and

WHEREAS, one of the two responders to the RFP was Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) and it has been determined that JCI has the capability of providing the needed services; and

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Agreement, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby JCI shall provide and maintain a video surveillance system and an alarm intrusion system at MSF; and

WHEREAS, the video surveillance system and alarm intrusion system will protect the newly renovated MSF from theft and vandalism while the facility is unoccupied; and

WHEREAS, when MSF is opened, the video surveillance system and alarm intrusion system will provide ongoing security and monitoring services to assist correctional staff in operating the facility; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement to provide the installation and maintenance of a video surveillance system and alarm intrusion system, in an amount not to exceed $111,979.08, with a term commencing March 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT THE:

1.

President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to, execute the Agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc., for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest the President’s signature thereto; and

2.

Sheriff or Sheriff’s designee is hereby authorized to execute amendments and minor modifications to this Agreement not to exceed an aggregate of $25,000, and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
