BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF, OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE IN THE CAPACITY AS OES AREA COORDINATOR TO:

1)

SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR ADMINISTRATION OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2009 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE GRANT PROGRAM IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $166,861; AND

2)

EXECUTE ON BEHALF OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO ALL NECESSARY APPLICATIONS, CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, AMENDMENTS, PAYMENT REQUESTS, AND GRANT ASSURANCES HERETO FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECURING FUNDS AND TO IMPLEMENT AND CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES SPECIFIED IN THE GRANT APPLICATION.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Sheriff or his designee serves as the Area Coordinator of the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services (OES); and

 

WHEREAS, OES wishes to apply to the state for grant funding which will enable the local operational area to enhance and/or supplement the ability to plan, train, and exercise to mitigate and recover from all hazards; and

 

WHEREAS, the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) requires the Grantee to certify by resolution of the approval of the application before submission of said application to the state; and

 

WHEREAS, the California Emergency Management Agency has received funding which will be allocated through CalEMA to the operational areas to enhance the abilities of local Emergency Managers to expand operational readiness, incident support and recovery, emergency planning, training, exercise and enhance Duty Officer programs.

 
 
 

WHEREAS, OES will serve as the administrator for the grant award received in the amount of not to exceed ONE HUNDRED SIXTY SIX THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTY ONE DOLLARS ($166,861) by CalEMA to enhance the abilities of San Mateo County Emergency Management

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Sheriff or the Sheriff’s designee, in the capacity as OES Area Coordinator:

1)

To submit a grant application to the California Emergency Management Agency for administration of the grant awards to enhance the abilities of San Mateo County Emergency Management in an amount not to exceed $166,861; and

2)

To execute on behalf of the County of San Mateo all necessary applications, contracts, agreements, amendments, and payment request hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specific in the grant application.
