RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Donald S. Wetteland

Upon His Retirement

After 45 years with the San Mateo County Department of Public Works

WHEREAS, Donald S. Wetteland joined the county’s Department of Public Works as a senior engineer aide in April 1964, and five years later became a junior highway engineer; and

WHEREAS, by 1974, Don had earned the position of assistant civil engineer and in February 1988, he became an associate engineer for the county, a position he held until retirement; and

WHEREAS, through his decades of service to the people and businesses of the Peninsula, Don has worked on assignments ranging from traffic flow to flood control to landslide repair; and

WHEREAS, Don has worked under five public works directors and has participated in hundreds of projects – large and small – involving roadways, bridges, storm drains and sewers; and

WHEREAS, Don is a lifelong San Mateo County resident; a graduate of California State University, San Jose; a volunteer youth soccer coach; a Boy Scout leader; a train enthusiast and a skilled and experienced skier.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Donald S. Wetteland upon his retirement after 45 years of dedicated service with the San Mateo County Department of Public Works. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude to Don and extends sincere wishes for many years of peace, health and happiness.
