These election services will facilitate the school districts’ engagement of voters to decide the important questions of funding to support each district’s programs.

BACKGROUND:

California Elections Code section 10002 provides for the governing body of any city or district to request the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit the County Elections Officer to render specified services to the city or district relation to the conduct of an election. Subject to approval of the Board of Supervisors, these services shall be performed by the Chief Elections Officer. Elections Code section 1400 allows for special elections to be conducted on the date of any special statewide election, and 1000 allows for a special election to be conducted on the established election date of the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June in each year.

The requests of the governing boards are proper and the County Elections Officer is agreeable to providing the specified election services as requested, and all related costs will be reimbursed by each requesting district.

This request has been reviewed and approved by County Counsel.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There will be no Net County Cost. Each requesting district will pay for the services performed.
