RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY MANAGER TO APPROVE FUNDING REQUESTS FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO A MAXIMUM OF $500,000 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2010

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Board has initiated efforts with community partners and stakeholders to coordinate responses to urgent needs focusing on food, shelter, healthcare and employment in response to the economic downturn and unprecedented demands for critical human services.

WHEREAS, the Board desires to assist local nonprofits attempting to respond to unprecedented demands for critical human services;

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with this request to create an Economic Urgency Assistance Program that will provide funds for emergency safety-net services on a dollar-for-dollar match basis against outside funding.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the County Manager be authorized to establish criteria and approve requests for funds related to this purpose, up to a maximum of $500,000 through December 31, 2010.
