RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER TO RENDER SPECIFIED ELECTION SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF PACIFICA IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SPECIAL MAIL BALLOT ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2009 AND THE REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2009

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Pacifica adopted Resolution No. 15-2009 calling for a special election to be held on May 19, 2009 in conjunction with the Special Statewide Election to propose an ordinance to adopt a general transactions and use tax pursuant to Revenue and Taxation Code Section 7251 et. seq; (“the Transaction and Use Tax Act”) for voter approval and requesting the Board of Supervisors to authorize the County’s Chief Elections Officer to render specified elections services to the District relating to said special election; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Board of Trustees of the Redwood City School District adopted Resolution No. 2008-2009/11 calling for a Special Election to be held on June 2, 2009, to propose an education parcel tax for voter approval and requesting the Board of Supervisors to authorize the County’s Chief Elections Officer to render specified elections services to the District relating to said Special Election; and

WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer is agreeable to providing said election services; and

WHEREAS, in consideration of the services and supplies to be provided by the Chief Elections Officer in conducting said elections, the City of Pacifica and the Redwood City School District have entered into agreements to reimburse the County for the costs of said services and supplies;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Chief Elections Officer is authorized to render the specified election services for the

May 19, 2009 Consolidated Special Statewide Election and the June 2, 2009 Special School District Election.
