RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Perla Gange Ibarrientos

Upon Being Honored By The

The Pilipino Bayanihan Resource Center for 20 Years of Community Service

WHEREAS, Perla Gange Ibarrientos’ civic participation and advocacy for the Filipino-American community started in 1973 as a volunteer aide in her children’s school, and extended to membership on the PTA board and the Parents Advisory Board at Westmoor High School in Daly City, Calif.; and

   

WHEREAS, Perla later played a significant role in bringing qualified teachers from her native Philippines to Daly City’s school districts, and she worked to ease racial tensions involving Filipino-American and African-American youth; and

   

WHEREAS, over the years Perla’s volunteer work has ranged from translating for the Red Cross to fundraising for the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association to a decade behind the scenes at the North Peninsula Food Pantry and Dining Center; and

   

WHEREAS, Perla has served on the Daly City Personnel Commission, the Daly City Library Board of Trustees, the Daly City-Quezon City Sister City Committee and the Pilipino Bayanihan Resource center, where she has been president since 2006; and

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Perla Gange Ibarrientos upon being honored by the Pilipino Bayanihan Resource Center for 20 years of dedicated service to PBRC and to the overall community. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude to Perla and extends sincere wishes for continued excellence and success.
