BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION: 1) AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH UNIVERSAL BUILDING SERVICES FOR JANITORIAL SERVICES IN COUNTY OWNED AND LEASED FACILITIES FROM APRIL 14, 2009, TO JUNE 30, 2012, FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,033,676, AND 2) AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY’S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATIONS BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE) AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California that

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works conducted a Request for Proposals for Janitorial Services at Various County Facilities; and

WHEREAS, all submitted proposals were reviewed by an evaluation committee comprised of Building Services, Facility Services and Purchasing; and

WHEREAS, the evaluation committee concluded that the proposal of Universal Building Services (UBS) best meets the needs of the County for said services in the following facilities: Agriculture Building, Weights & Measures, Public Guardian Records Warehouse, Canyon Oaks Buildings, Health Services in San Mateo, Vocational Rehab, North County Adult Probation, Safe Harbor Shelter, Half Moon Bay Airport, Pacifica Library, and Sanchez Library and the East Palo Alto Municipal Center.

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that he be authorized to execute an agreement with UBS, and this Board has considered and concurs in the recommendation of the Director of Public Works, and

 WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the Agreement, has examined and approved it as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors is herby authorized to execute an agreement with UBS for Janitorial Services at various County Facilities for a maximum amount of $1,033,676 covering the period of April 14, 2009, through June 30, 2012.

 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that signature authority is granted to the Director of Public Works or his designee to execute contract amendments which modify the County’s maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate) and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
