BACKGROUND:

On July 22, 2008 the Board adopted Resolution Number 069599, authorizing an agreement with Mazzetti & Associates for on call mechanical and engineering consulting services for a maximum amount of $200,000.

DISCUSSION:

The County retains on call contractors for mechanical and engineering consulting services to work on projects that are to be assigned at a later date. At the time the assignment is being made, the consultant must submit a cost estimate for the job. The consultant has been requested to provide consulting in connection with work on the Air Handling Units at the County Office Building 1; and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning improvement work in the 911 Dispatch Center Server Room. This project will cause the contractor to exceed its maximum contract amount by approximately $100,000. Therefore it is requested that the total contract amount be amended to increase the amount by $100,000 for a new total of $300,000.

The resolution has been approved as to form by County Counsel.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The cost of this contract will be paid for out of the budgets for the individual projects that are assigned. The projects are included in the Capital Projects budget for FY 2008-09.
