RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AMENDMENT ONE TO THE AGREEMENTS WITH ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND NORTHERN NEVADA; CENTER FOR INDEPENDENCE OF THE DISABLED; CITY OF DALY CITY; CITY OF PACIFICA; CITY OF SAN BRUNO, COASTSIDE ADULT DAY HEALTH CENTER; EDGEWOOD CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES; FAMILY CAREGIVER ALLIANCE; FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY; LEGAL AID SOCIETY; MILLS-PENINSULA SENIOR FOCUS; OMBUDSMAN SERVICES OF SAN MATEO COUNTY, INC.; PENINSULA VOLUNTEERS, INC.; AND SELF HELP FOR THE ELDERLY FOR THE PROVISION OF SUPPORTIVE, NUTRITION AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES TO EXPAND SERVICES AND ADJUST FUNDING BY $104,507 FROM $2,518,541 TO $2,623,048 WITH NO CHANGE TO THE TERM OF JULY 1, 2008 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2009

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board has designated itself as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of San Mateo County to carry out programs pursuant to the Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA); and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the AAA administer the programs of the OAA, Community-Based Services Program (CBSP), and Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP); and

 

WHEREAS, on September 9, 2008, by Resolution 69659, the Board of Supervisors authorized execution of 24 Agreements for an aggregate total of $3,060,354 for the term July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 to provide an array of services to at-risk individuals in San Mateo County; and

 

WHEREAS, the County has received one-time-only funding from the State to backfill the majority of the mid-year loss of State funding passed through the County to community providers. In addition, the funding will allow community providers to purchase equipment and supplies, to fund one-time-only community- and home-based projects, and to fund innovative pilot projects that will enhance service delivery and protection of the County’s frail elderly population; and

 

WHEREAS, County wishes to amend 14 of the 24 Agreements, including an increase in one-time-only funding in the amount of $5,000 and a reduction in Title V, State baseline funding in the amount of $17,764 for a net decrease of $12,764 for the Family Service Agency and a decrease in State baseline funding in the amount of $91,612 and a backfill with one-time-only funds in the amount of $89,094 for a net decrease of $2,518 for Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County, Inc.; and

 

WHEREAS,, amending these 14 Agreements will increase the collective amounts of the 14 Agreements by $104,507 from $2,518,541 to $2,623,048 with no change to the term of the Agreements from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with Amendment One to 14 of the Agreements with the above mentioned providers and desires to enter into same:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendments to the Agreements for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
