BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTIOIN AUTHORIZIING THE COUNTY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH POLITICAL SOLUTIONS, INC., FOR STATE GOVERNMENT LIAISION SERVICES (ADVOCACY) FOR THE TERM OF MAY 1, 2009 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2009, IN THE AMOUNT OF $80,000 WITH A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OPTION OF JANUARY 1, 2010 THROUGH DECEMBER 2010, IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,000, TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACT NOT TO EXCEED $230,000.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, an estimated 80 percent of the County’s budget is dependent on funds provided in support of both state and federally mandated partnership programs and services. It is therefore imperative that the County be actively involved and well represented in the development of both state and federal policy, programs and funding priorities; and

WHEREAS, after a competitive Request for Proposal process Political Solutions, Inc., was selected to provide the County of San Mateo state legislative government liaison (advocacy) services; and

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo and Political Solutions Inc., desire that Political Solutions be retained to provide, in the capacity of an independent contractor, state government liaison (advocacy) services to and for the benefit of the County of San Mateo;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors does hereby authorize:

(1) The County Manager or his designee to execute an agreement with Political Solutions, Inc., for state government liaison (advocacy) services for the term of May 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009, in an amount not to exceed $80,000; and

(2) The County Manager or his designee, if contract performance requirements are achieved, to exercise a one-year extension for the term of January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010 in the amount not to exceed $150,000.
