THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING
|
COMMUNITY GATEPATH
FOR COMPLETION OF ITS $5 MILLION CAMPAIGN FOR POSSIBILITIES
|

WHEREAS, CAMPAIGN FOR POSSIBILITIES was completed on schedule thanks to a generous donation from the Hillsborough Auxiliary to Community Gatepath, a volunteer group of local women who have been committed to helping people with disabilities in San Mateo County for nearly 60 years; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, children who receive early intervention services are more successful during their school years and require less assistance later in life; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Community Gatepath’s Children’s Services has over 35 years experience in early intervention services for children with special needs and is identified as the premier provider of services for children in San Mateo County; and
|
|
WHEREAS, since launching its capital campaign in 2006, Community Gatepath has increased by 50% the number of children served at Community Gatepath’s remodeled Niall P. McCarthy Center for Children & Families, and has been able to provide enhanced direct services to children and their families; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, CAMPAIGN FOR POSSIBILITIES provides Community Gatepath with the financial resources to leverage its services to reach many more households in San Mateo County and throughout the country; and
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Community Gatepath’s continuum of services includes early intervention and inclusive preschool for children as well as life skills, employment, community integration and wellness activities for adults and seniors with disabilities.
|
|
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on March 5, 2009, hereby congratulates Community Gatepath on the completion of CAMPAIGN FOR POSSIBILITIES and commends Community Gatepath for increasing services for children with special needs by opening a redesigned inclusive learning center and launching an innovative online resource center for families.
