THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

EDDIE C. THOMAS, JR.

ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, EDDIE THOMAS began his career with the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office on March 13, 1978, and it has come to the attention of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors that EDDIE THOMAS is retiring from the County on March 27, 2009 after 31 years of faithful public service; and

   

WHEREAS, EDDIE THOMAS, after successfully prosecuting countless crimes of violence, became Deputy In Charge of the San Mateo Branch in June of 1985 and transferred to the Juvenile Branch as Deputy In Charge in 1986 where he led the branch for twenty-three years; and

   

WHEREAS, EDDIE THOMAS valiantly served his country as a Captain and Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps and serves the East Palo Alto Community as Pastor of the Open Bible Baptist Church; and

   

WHEREAS, EDDIE THOMAS will be remembered by his co-workers and friends in the District Attorney’s Office as someone who is fair, dedicated, loyal, knowledgeable, patient, easy-going, and whose calm presence has served to reassure those around him, and the Office of the District Attorney wishes EDDIE THOMAS much happiness as he enjoys woodworking, barbequing, ministering, and relaxing with his wife Brenda, his children and grandchildren; and

   

WHEREAS, EDDIE THOMAS as the Deputy In Charge of the Juvenile Branch for twenty three years has used his wisdom and spiritual compass to guide his prosecutorial efforts and to be a force for positive change in the lives of the youth at Hillcrest, and will be remembered for his proclamation during his branch report at the quarterly staff meetings, “We haven’t lost a jury trial yet.”

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on March 27, 2009, hereby congratulates EDDIE THOMAS on his retirement after 31 years of faithful public service, and the Board extends its best wishes for future success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
