DISCUSSION
Paul Okada has been a County employee for six years as a Deputy County Counsel in the County Counsel Office. In 2005, Paul was assigned to represent the Human Resources Department, collaborating with the Human Resources Management Team on all matters related to employment within our County. During that time Paul has demonstrated a pro-active, positive, and responsive approach to resolving HR related issues. His willingness to consider issues from both a legal and a practical perspective, as well his inclusiveness of the expertise of the Human Resource staff, has built a level of high level of trust. He has enhanced the collaborative partnership between Human Resources, Departments, and County Counsel.
Paul has also supported the Assessment Appeals Board for the past four years, responding to their inquiries and initiating and researching applicable laws. Board members describe Paul as “continually going above and beyond”. Often Paul’s email messages are stamped well into the night, reflective of his work ethic and commitment to service. He is a tremendous asset to the Assessment Appeals Board and they have the highest regard for his quality of work and advice.
Paul is personable, patient, highly competent, responsive, interested in the opinions of others, consistent, innovative, and universally considered a pleasure to work with.
Our County is indeed fortunate to have Paul Okada as one of its outstanding employees.
