RESOLUTION AMENDING THE FEE SCHEDULE FOR THE

AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONER

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, state law authorizes the Board of Supervisors to set fees for certain services and functions of the County Agricultural Commissioner; and

 

WHEREAS, the County Ordinance Code provides the Board may set fees by resolution; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board desires to revise such fees as follows:

 

(a) For inspection and certification of fruits, nuts and vegetables, the following fees shall be charged:

(b) For inspection and certification of plants and other related items, the following fees shall be charged:

    In bulk: One (1) package equals 10 – five inch pots (or larger), 25 – three inch pots (or larger), 50 - two inch pots (or larger), or 100 seedlings.

 

(c) For the registration of any person engaged for hire in the business of agricultural pest control, an annual fee of $60.00 will be charged.

 

(d) For the registration of any agricultural pest control advisor who lists a San Mateo County address on the agricultural pest control advisor license or considers San Mateo County to be the county of occupational choice, an annual fee of $10.00 shall be charged. For the registration of other agricultural pest control advisors, an annual fee of $5.00 shall be charged.

 

(e) For the registration of any maintenance gardener who performs pest control work incidental to landscaping services in San Mateo County, an annual fee of $25.00 shall be charged.

 

(f) For the inspection and certification of colony strength of bees used in pollination of agricultural crops, the following fees shall be charged:

(g) Charges for certificates based upon field inspections and for certificates issued outside the regular working hours shall be the amount necessary to fully reimburse the County for expenses incurred, including mileage and overtime.

 

(h) For the certification and inspection of certified farmers’ markets and certified producers, an hourly fee in an amount based on a weighted average hourly rate as determined on an annual basis by the Agricultural Commissioner shall be charged.

 

(i) For the annual registration of any structural pest control business licensed to perform fumigation (Branch 1 license) and their licensed operators and field representatives doing business within the County, an annual initial registration fee of $25.00 shall be charged. The initial registration fee covers the business and the qualifying manager(s), licensed operators, and licensed field representatives identified on the initial registration form.

 

(j) For the annual registration of any structural pest control business licensed to perform general pest control (Branch 2 license) and/or non-fumigation wood destroying pest control (Branch 3 license) doing business within the County, an annual initial registration fee of $10.00 shall be charged. The initial registration fee covers the business and the qualifying manager(s) identified on the initial registration form.

 

(k) For amendments to the annual registration form for any structural pest control business to add new licensed operators, licensed field representatives, and qualifying managers to a company’s county registration, a fee of $10.00 shall be charged:

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the foregoing fee schedule is hereby approved by this Board, to be implemented by the County Agricultural Commissioner for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, effective July 1, 2009.
