James C. Porter, Director of Public Works
SUBJECT:
Reimbursement of Expenditures to the County of San Mateo Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services for the Hazardous Materials Response Team
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) to provide an appropriation in the Solid Waste Fund in the amount of $150,070 to reimburse the County of San Mateo Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) for a portion of expenditures related to the Hazardous Materials Response Team.
VISION ALIGNMENT:
Commitment: Responsive, effective and collaborative government.
Goal 22: County and local governments effectively communicate, collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire county.
The ATR will enable the Solid Waste Fund to pay a portion of the costs associated with services provided by OES Hazardous Materials Response Team (Team) to address hazardous materials emergencies throughout San Mateo County.
BACKGROUND:
The OES Team consists of the South County Fire Hazmat, the Environmental Health Division of the County Health Services Agency, and the Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services. Together, these three agencies respond to hazardous materials emergencies and incidents in San Mateo County.
DISCUSSION:
The ATR is required to establish an appropriation in the Solid Waste Fund Budget Unit to reimburse the OES for a portion of the expenditures for hazardous materials response during the FY2007-08. This late payment was due to a deferral in the submission of the invoice.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action will transfer an appropriation of $150,070 from the Solid Waste Fund Services and Supplies category to Other Financing Uses/Transfers. There will be no impact to the County General Fund.
