RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Michael David Edwards

Upon his retirement after 31 years with the

Daly City Police Department

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Michael David Edwards joined the Daly City Police Department on December 19, 1977, and graduated in March 1978 from the Basic Police Academy at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California; and

WHEREAS, Mike served as a patrol officer for 10 years, and earned his sergeant stripes in October 1984; Michael became a lieutenant in November 1999 and a captain in December 2006, a rank he held until retirement; and

WHEREAS, over the decades, Mike received 110 unit commendations and letters of praise and appreciation from other agencies and the public, plus eight Departmental Commendations, including one in June 1982 for his role in investigating and solving a series of residential armed robberies in the county; and

WHEREAS, Mike’s professionalism, tactical leadership and tactical and supervisory skills earned respect and admiration from peers and superiors alike, and brought honor to his uniform and badge.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Michael David Edwards upon his retirement from the Daly City Police Department after 31 years of dedicated service. The Board hereby extends sincere wishes to Mike and his family for luck in all future endeavors, plus many more years of continuous peace and happiness.
