RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING | ||||
Chief Mark J. Raffaelli | ||||
Upon his retirement after 37 Years with the South San Francisco Police Department | ||||

WHEREAS, in July 1971, Mark J. Raffaelli joined the South San Francisco Police Department, and served as a patrol officer and a crime prevention officer; earning his sergeant’s stripes in 1979; and | ||||
WHEREAS, by 1983, Mark had risen to the rank of lieutenant, completing assignments in patrol, communications, training and personnel; he earned his captain’s bars in 1987 and was appointed police chief in December 1993; and | ||||
WHEREAS, over the years, Mark received several awards and recognitions, including a Certificate of Meritorious Service and a Certificate of Commendation from SSFPD; a Medal of Meritorious Conduct from the California Peace Officers Association; and the Gus Nicolopulos Exemplary Character Award from the Peninsula Police Officers Association; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Mark’s selfless efforts on behalf of the people of San Mateo County is underscored by his tremendous role in the creation of the Walter H. Moore Public Safety Training Center at the College of San Mateo; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in addition to his law enforcement duties, Mark has committed personal time and resources to various community-based organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club, the Host Lions Club, the South San Francisco Unified School District, the San Mateo County Community College Foundation and the Skyline College President’s Council. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Chief Mark J. Raffaelli upon his retirement after 37 dedicated years of service with the South San Francisco Police Department. The Board expresses its gratitude to Mark and his family, and extends sincere wishes for many more years of continuous peace, health and happiness. | ||||
