RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

BOBBI MACLEAN

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, in 1972 Bobbi MacLean started her career assisting the County in moving Old Age Security, Aid to the Totally Disabled and Aid to the Blind cases to the Social Security program, helping San Mateo County’s disabled population gain financial stability and self-sufficiency; and

   

WHEREAS, in 1974 the Earnings Clearance Unit was created with Bobbi’s assistance for the purpose of assuring that aid payment participants earnings were being reported accurately for the purpose of the County providing quality services, and due to her diligence and hard work, in 1971, was promoted to the supervisor of the Fair Hearing’s Unit where she assured that all program participants of the Human Services Agency received benefits fairly according to state and federal laws, regulations and policy, and in accordance with their civil rights; and

   

WHEREAS, in 1981 she assisted in the rewriting of regulations for employables, income reporting and put together the Disability Service Advocacy program to assist participants pursuing Social Security Disability; and

   

WHEREAS, from 2001 through 2004 acted as the project lead on many Human Services Agency facility projects including the Bayshore Family Resource Center, Ben Franklin, Greenoaks and numerous other projects; and

   

WHEREAS, Bobbi, through her continued work with Hearings, has been involved with the Statewide Appeals conference, including directing the conference and has also chaired the Northern California Appeals Committee, providing education and compiling training for all Northern California, and has provided outstanding service to the community and San Mateo County for thirty-seven years; and

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on May 21, 2009, hereby congratulate Bobbi MacLean on her retirement and extends its best wishes to her on her future endeavors
