RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

SAN MATEO COUNTY

HEALTH FOUNDATION

20TH ANNIVERSARY

WHEREAS, the mission of the SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION is to promote and champion the health and well being of all residents of our community, regardless of ability to pay, primarily through supporting excellence and innovation in the County’s hospital and clinic system; and

   

WHEREAS, the SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION endeavors to support innovation and excellence in the San Mateo County health care system by funding necessary equipment, technology and facilities at San Mateo Medical Center and the clinics, and by supporting programs that are proactive in addressing both the short and long term care issues facing our community; and

   

WHEREAS, the SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION works to inform the public about vital services provided by San Mateo Medical Center, its affiliated clinics and the Department of Human Services; and

   

WHEREAS, since its inception in 1989, the SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION has provided more than $10 million of assistance in addition to playing a major role in the re-building of the Medical Center earlier this decade; and

   

WHEREAS, funds raised by the SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION have been used to purchase medical equipment and expand services, and in 2009 more than $2 million will be given covering 8 different projects.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on April 18, 2009, hereby congratulates the SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION on its 20th Anniversary and extends its thanks for the Foundation’s many years of supporting the good work of the county medical center and its related services.
