RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE | ||||
GROUNDBREAKING OF THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN REDWOOD SHORES | ||||
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * | ||||
WHEREAS, on July 15th, 2009, the yet to be named elementary school in Redwood Shores will break ground on construction; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in February 2005, the Belmont Redwood Shores Board of Trustees voted to build a new elementary school in Redwood Shores to mitigate overcrowding in the district; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the voters within the school district passed Measure C in November of 2005 to fund construction of a new elementary school; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Belmont Redwood Shores Board of Trustees reached an agreement with developer Max Keech to purchase the land for the school and make plans for construction; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the developer and school district have actively engaged in implementing the most environmentally sound pre-development processes including using goats to clear vegetation; and | ||||
WHEREAS, without the dedication of the children, parents, school board members and the developer the new elementary school in the Belmont Redwood Shores School District would never have been more than an idea. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby extend its best wishes to the Belmont Redwood Shores School District in the construction of the new elementary school and appreciates all the efforts of the entire community to provide a better educational atmosphere for its children. | ||||
