RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE | ||||
2009 SUMMER NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES | ||||
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * | ||||
WHEREAS, the 2009 Summer National Senior Games will take place in the Bay Area from August 1 to August 15, 2009; and | ||||
WHEREAS, more than 10,000 male and female athletes age 50 and over will compete in a total of 18 medal sports during the Games; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the 2009 Senior Games will generate an economic impact of $35 million for the local economy; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the sport of Cycling will take place in San Mateo County along Caņada Road from Caņada College to State Highway 92, with almost 500 cyclists set to ride races through the County; and | ||||
WHEREAS, these athletes are inspirational role models for healthy living for San Mateo County residents of all ages; and | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby welcome the 2009 National Senior Games to San Mateo County and extends its best wishes to the cyclists who will serve as role models in physical fitness as they strive to ride their best. | ||||
