RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING

Marion Softky

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Marion Softky is recognized for 40 years of service at The Almanac; and

WHEREAS, outside of her work at The Almanac, she passionately served as executive secretary for the Environmental Quality Coordinating Council whose detailed State of the Environment report provided several important recommendations on resource conservation in San Mateo County.

WHEREAS, Her early involvement with the League of Women Voters as its observer at countless San Mateo Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors meetings attracted the attention of the editor the Country Almanac which was founded in 1965.

WHEREAS, She kept Almanac readers informed about interesting people, environmental issues, science, and local government in San Mateo County.

WHEREAS, her consistent vision and leadership in reporting supplied Woodside, Portola Valley, Atherton and Menlo Park with an excellence in journalism for four decades.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby congratulate Marion Softky on 40 years of service with The Almanac, and extends its best wishes to her in the coming years.
