RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING:

1.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE A SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE TOWN OF WOODSIDE FOR THE PROVISION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES BY THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND DISPATCH SERVICES BY PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS, EXTENDING THE TERM THREE YEARS TO JUNE 30, 2012, AND INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY $3,894,572, FROM $3,136,188 TO $7,030,760;

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AMENDMENTS TO THE BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT AND SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE TOWN OF PORTOLA VALLEY, EXTENDING THE TERMS THREE YEARS TO JUNE 30, 2012, AND INCREASING THE TOTAL COMBINED AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACTS BY $2,299,639, FROM $1,787,424 TO $4,087,063; AND

3.

THE SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE AMENDMENTS AND MINOR MODIFICATIONS TO THIS AGREEMENT NOT TO EXCEED AN AGGREGATE OF $25,000 AND/OR MODIFY THE AGREEMENT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS.

 
 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

    WHEREAS, there exists a long-standing contractual relationship between the Towns of Woodside and Portola Valley and the County of San Mateo, whereby the Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services and Public Safety Communications provides dispatch services for the two Towns; and

    WHEREAS, on November 7, 2006, the County entered into agreements with the Towns of Woodside and Portola Valley in which the Sheriff’s Office and Public Safety Communications continue to be the provider of basic law enforcement and dispatch services within their respective Towns for a period of three (3) years, expiring June 30, 2009; and

    WHEREAS, the agreements contain a renewal option for an additional three years through negotiation and further amendment; and

    WHEREAS, the Town of Portola Valley wishes to continue to separately contract for supplemental traffic services funded by State COPS monies; and

    WHEREAS, the Town of Woodside wishes to continue to incorporate supplemental traffic services into one consolidated agreement; and

    WHEREAS, the parties now wish to further amend their agreements by extending the terms for a three-year period until June 30, 2012, and increasing the combined contract totals by $6,194,211, from $4,923,612 to $11,117,823; and

    WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT:

The President of the Board be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute a Second Amendment to the Agreement with the Town of Woodside for the provision of Law Enforcement Services by the Sheriff’s Office and Dispatch Services by Public Safety Communications, extending the term three years to June 30, 2012, and increasing the amount by $3,894,572, from $3,136,188 to $7,030,760;

The President of the Board be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute Amendments to the Basic Law Enforcement Services Agreement and Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Agreement with the Town of Portola Valley, extending the terms three years to June 30, 2012, and increasing the total combined amount of the contracts by $2,299,639, from $1,787,424 to $4,087,063; and

The Sheriff or the Sheriff’s designee is hereby authorized to execute amendments and minor modifications to this Agreement not to exceed an aggregate of $25,000, and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
