RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING | ||||
Chief Gary S. McLane | ||||
Upon his retirement after 31 Years with the Daly City Police Department | ||||

WHEREAS, in June 1972, Gary S. McLane joined the Daly City Police Department as a Police Explorer; by March 1975, Gary was a cadet and became a Daly City police officer in January 1977, graduating from the Sacramento Law Enforcement Training Center in May of that same year; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Gary diligently served his community as a motorcycle officer, focusing on traffic safety and accident investigations; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Gary earned his sergeant’s stripes in February 1991, followed by his lieutenant’s bars in May 1996; three years later, Gary was promoted to the rank of police captain; and | ||||
WHEREAS, over the years, Gary’s professionalism, courage, investigative and leadership skills and dedication to his city, his badge and to his fellow officers earned the respect of his peers, plus myriad police chief commendations, unit commendations and hundreds of letters of appreciation from other agencies and the public; and | ||||
WHEREAS, approximately one month after assuming his new duties as a police captain, the city’s leadership named Gary as acting police chief; followed by his appointment as the permanent police chief in July 2000, where he served until retirement. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Chief Gary S. McLane upon his retirement after 31 dedicated years of service with the Daly City Police Department. The Board expresses its gratitude to Gary and his family, and extends sincere wishes for many more years of continuous peace, health and happiness. | ||||
