RECOMMENDATION:
|
Approve the appointment of James Metz to the San Mateo County Mosquito Abatement District, to a term expiring December 31, 2011.

BACKGROUND:
|
Supervisors Church and Gordon interviewed candidates for the vacancy on September 22, 2009 and the recommended action is to appoint James Metz.
|
|
|
DISCUSSION:
|
Mr. Metz is a business owner in South San Francisco. He has been a member of the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 1987 and served as President in 2004. He has also participated in numerous other civic activities, having served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club, and as a member of the South San Francisco Downtown Rehabilitation Committee, the North County Health Center Citizens Advisory Committee and the Redwood City Merchants Association. In addition, he completed both the South San Francisco and the San Mateo County Citizens Academy programs. Mr. Metz has attended meetings of the San Mateo County Mosquito Abatement District and has expressed a strong interest in serving on its board.
