RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING
|
|
|
WALTER HAAG
AS MILLBRAE
2009 MAN OF THE YEAR
|
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
|
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that WALTER HAAG is being honored at Millbrae’s 2009 Millbrae Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner for outstanding voluntary service to the community; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, WALTER HAAG has lived in Millbrae for more than 50 of his 91 years and is tremendously dedicated to the community, and works tirelessly to make Millbrae a special place through his volunteerism; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, WALTER HAAG has given his time and effort to several community activities throughout the years, including fingerprinting all kindergarteners and other new students in Millbrae schools for the Millbrae Police Volunteer Program, participating in the Art and Wine Festival, the Children’s Circus and the All Day Read event at Lomita Park School, and is an important asset to programs for Millbrae’s senior citizens; and
|

|
|
WHEREAS, WALTER HAAG continues to demonstrate his love of our community by volunteering with the Millbrae Historical Society, and is a founding member of the “old man’s softball league,” for which he donated team caps; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, WALTER HAAG, as a member of the Community Preservation Commission since 2007, has participated in each of the Commission’s special events, such as the downtown planter beautification project, has nominated numerous properties for the Millbrae Beautification/Water Wise garden awards and continues to offer his services for future downtown planting events even after his term recently expired; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, WALTER HAAG is an unsung hero who expressed his love for Millbrae by working to make it a better community for all of us.
|
|
|
|
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on this 9th day of October, two thousand and nine, hereby honors and commends WALTER HAAG as Millbrae’s 2009 Man of the Year for his outstanding volunteer service. The citizens of Millbrae and San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of WALTER HAAG. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations.
