RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

THE XIANGFAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICA

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, The People’s Government of Xiangfan is sending a delegation group to San Mateo County to promote cooperation and joint ventures with businesses in the Bay Area; and

WHEREAS, Xiangfan is a famous national-level historical and cultural city in China with a 2800 year history and is the home of many cultural sites, including Xiangyang City Moat, Ancient Longzhong and Lu-men Temple; and

WHEREAS, Xiangfan is rich in water energy resources, agricultural resources including grain, cotton, vegetable oil crops, tea and fruit, as well as mineral deposits such as rutile, ilmenite, phosphorus, barite, coal, iron, aluminum, gold, manganese, nitre and rock salt; and

WHEREAS, Xiangfan has several mainstay industries, including textiles, electronics, automobiles and chemical fibre enterprises.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on October 12, 2009, hereby welcomes the delegation from the People’s Government of Xiangfan, and thanks the Bay Area Xiangfan Friendship Association for their work to promote the culture and business of Xiangfan and create harmony and cooperation with businesses in San Mateo County and the entire Bay Area.
