ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT (JUHSD) TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE YEAR-ROUND AND SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SYEP), THE TERM REMAINS JULY 1, 2007 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2010, INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY $369,590 TO $1,334,444. THERE IS NO NET COUNTY COST

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that
|
|
WHEREAS, the Workforce Investment Board determined the need for youth academic and employment programs for youth who qualify for services under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA); and
|
|
WHEREAS, on June 19, 2007 the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 068732 authorizing an Agreement with JUHSD in the amount of $964,854 for a three year term of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010 to provide comprehensive year round youth employment services; and
|
|
WHEREAS, Resolution 068732 also authorized the Human Services Agency Director or Designee to execute contract amendments which modify the County's maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions; and
|

WHEREAS, This First Amendment shows a change in the funding allocation for FY 2008-09 from $321,618 to $546,618 (the amount of $225,000 transferred from FY 2009-10) to pay the Contractor for an additional 49 youth served in the comprehensive year-round youth program. Additionally this First Amendment adds the SYEP for FY 2009-10 that will serve 55 youth paid through ARRA funds in the amount of $142,798 and increases funding for the FY 2009-10 comprehensive year-round Youth employment program by $226,792 to fund services for 90 youth. The total amount of funding added to the Agreement is $369,590; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the First Amendment to the Agreement and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into the same.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that:
The President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said First Amendment for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo; and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
