RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

DR. RACHEL BOROVINA, MD

2009 Women in County Government Public Service, the Extra Mile Recognition Award

WHEREAS, DR. RACHEL BOROVINA was born, raised and educated in San Mateo County and is a staff pediatrician at the San Mateo Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, DR. RACHEL BOROVINA has been recognized by supervisors, colleagues, co-workers, patients and families as an exemplary physician and an outstanding individual who is dedicated to the children and their families; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Ann Marie Silvestri, Chief of Dentistry, stated: “Dr. Borovina’s dedication to patients and their care that goes above the routine is what makes her a special kind of provider;” and

WHEREAS, DR. RACHEL BOROVINA provides a complete continuum of care and represents the Pediatric Department on numerous committees such as the Clinical Standards Committee where her efforts on an electronic medical record system provided the Pediatric Department with predesigned templates to standardize, simplify and assist in the quality of all pediatric well child and sick visits and is a goal not yet achieved by another department; and

WHEREAS, the SMMC Healthy Lifestyles Clinic is one of the most unique and amazing achievements accomplished by DR. RACHEL BOROVINA, and provides for the evaluation, education, treatment and support of overweight children and their families; and

WHEREAS, DR. RACHEL BOROVINA and her small team for Healthy Lifestyles can be seen every Wednesday afternoon with a group of 20 or more happy and active children who whether they are jumping rope, walking or looking at food labels are engaged and interested, including teenagers once formerly isolated because of their weight encouraging each other to become healthier,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends DR. RACHEL BOROVINA, because the children of San Mateo County are a healthier group of children as a result of the extra miles they go with her, and extends congratulations for being named the recipient of the Women in County Government 2009 Public Service – the Extra Mile Award.
