RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | ||||

WHEREAS, ROBERT G. GOTTSCHALK has served 8 years with the Millbrae City Council, was elected to the City Council in 2001 and re-elected in 2005, served as Vice-Mayor in 2004- 2005 and 2007-2008, and as Mayor from 2005-2006 and 2008-2009; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ROBERT G. GOTTSCHALK has served tirelessly on numerous committees and commissions, including Chair of the Mayor’s Civic Coordinating Council, Senior Advisory Committee Liaison, Community Preservation Commissioner, San Mateo County Council of Cities Voting Member, Association of Bay Area Government Liaison, Peninsula Congestion Relief Alliance Board of Directors, San Mateo County Emergency Services Joint Powers Authority, San Mateo County Library Governing Board, and Citizen Advisor to the San Mateo County Transportation Authority; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ROBERT G. GOTTSCHALK has had several significant accomplishments during his service as Mayor of Millbrae in 2005-2006, including dedication of the co-generation facility at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Grand Boulevard Groundbreaking for the Millbrae El Camino Real Landscaping Improvement Project, Joint Fire Training Services between Millbrae and San Bruno, San Mateo and Central County Fire, Agreement with American Traffic Solutions for a red light camera at Millbrae Avenue/Rollins Road intersection, successful renegotiation of the Crestview Slide Loan to release the City from repayment, groundbreaking for construction of Friendship Plaza at Murchison Drive and El Camino Real; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ROBERT G. GOTTSCHALK, during his term as Mayor in 2008-2009, continued to lead the city in important accomplishments, including appointment of a new city manager, establishing a Sister City Relationship with Kai Ping, China, addressing the economic crisis through Millbrae NOW community meeting, successful renewal of the Fire Suppression Assessment, award of the construction contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant renovation, ground breaking of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Renovation, the 2009 Street Repair Project, Kohl’s Grand Opening, Field Renovation Project with Millbrae Elementary School District, agreement with American Traffic Solutions for red light cameras at El Camino Real/Millbrae Avenue and Millbrae Avenue/US 101 Southbound ramp. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on December 8, 2009, hereby commends and honors ROBERT G. GOTTSCHALK for 8 years of outstanding leadership and service to the City of Millbrae as City Councilmember and Mayor. The Board extends its best wishes to him and his family on their future endeavors. | ||||
