THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

FRED HANSSON

WHEREAS, FRED HANSSON began his career of public service in 1997 with his appointment to the Public Works Commission of San Mateo for a three-year term, and continued the tradition of service with his appointment and nine years of service to the Planning Commission, where he gained the respect of his colleagues both on the Planning Commission and City Council; and

WHEREAS, FRED HANSSON was appointed to City Council in 2009, bringing with him the commitment to enhancing quality of life, building sustainable communities, working for people-oriented planning, protecting recreational and social services, encouraging civic engagement, and ensuring the safety of all San Mateo neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, FRED HANSSON has served the community also as a member of the Water Transportation Authority Board of Directors, Bicycle Advisory Committee, Transportation Corridor Citizen Advisory Committee, and as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America Troop 27 in San Mateo; and

WHEREAS, FRED HANSSON has played an influential role revising the General Plan and the Housing Element, amending the Stop Sign Ordinance and Policy and working with the City Attorney and Chamber of Commerce to amend the sign ordinance, revising the draft Downtown Plan, negotiating the acquisition of property and finalizing preliminary designs for Fire Station #24, among many more accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, FRED HANSSON, born and raised in San Mateo, has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the residents of San Mateo through visionary leadership, innovative problem-solving, working to achieve a myriad of goals through collaboration, and dedication to quality of life as a foundation for success;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends FRED HANSSON for his many years of leadership and community service to the city of San Mateo.
