RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE MIDCOAST PARK LANDS FUNDING REQUEST TO FIX 400 FEET OF TRAIL AT SURFERS BEACH

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, Surfers Beach, right next to Highway 1 south of Pilar Point Harbor, is a very popular local and visitor destination with steep and slippery beach access; and

 

WHEREAS, between the highway and beach runs a narrow unimproved and unsafe 400-foot section of the California Coastal Trail; and

 

WHEREAS, two trail studies completed in 2009 brought clear attention to the severe problems of this 400-foot section, but neither was linked to a funding source to directly address the problem; and

 

WHEREAS, the Midcoast Park Lands, a Midcoast non-profit organization, is working with the County’s Parks Department, to seek the assistance of members of the County’s federal and state delegation to identify funds that can be available next spring to address this problem.

 
 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports the Midcoast Park Lands’ funding request to U.S. Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, State Senator Leland Yee and Assembly member Jerry Hill to complete 400 feet of the California Coastal Trail at Surfers Beach.
