RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $677,674 FOR FY 2009-10, THROUGH THE “SECOND CHANCE ACT PRISONER REENTRY INITIATIVE,” PUBLIC LAW 110-99 AND AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT DOCUMENTS AND ANY AMENDMENTS THERETO.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, in April 2009, the County applied for grant funding under the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Second Chance Act, Prisoner Reentry Initiative and on October 1, 2009, the County was notified that it was one of just 15 agencies, nationwide, that received the first year of BJA grant funding; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has determined that the grant will support the County’s effort to put in place and continuously improve a reentry system that reduces recidivism among County jail inmates who are at high-risk for re-offending; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice, in the amount of $677,674 for FY 2009-10, through the “Second Chance Act Prisoner Reentry Initiative,” Public Law 110-99 is hereby accepted and the County Manager is authorized to execute the grant documents and any amendments thereto.
