BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION:

1.

ACCEPTING THE FY 2009 EDWARD BYRNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $214,021; AND

2.

AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF OR SHERIFF’S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE GRANT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CONTRACTS, MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING, AGREEMENTS, AMENDMENTS, AND GRANT ASSURANCES.

 
 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

    WHEREAS, the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) solicited applications for the FY 2009-10 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grants Program; and

    WHEREAS, the goal of BJA’s FY 2009-10 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grants Program is to assist state, local, and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office was selected as the lead agency to administer the grant on behalf of the County and other certified disparate jurisdictions including Daly City, East Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Mateo, and South San Francisco; and

    WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office, as lead agency, successfully applied for and received award of the FY 2009 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grants Program, in the amount of $241,021 to fund 1) the purchase of Orator Plus software, 2) purchases & other expenditures to be made by the above listed disparate jurisdictions, and 3) administrative costs; and

    WHEREAS, these expenditures will assist in preventing or reducing crime and violence; and

WHEREAS, this Board wishes to authorize the Sheriff to execute all documents necessary for the administration of the grant.

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT:

1.

The Board of Supervisors, on behalf of the County of San Mateo, hereby accepts the FY 2009-10 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant award in the amount of $214,021; and

2.

The Sheriff or Sheriff’s designee is hereby authorized and directed to execute all necessary documents in connection with this grant, including but not limited to contracts, agreements, amendments, grant assurances, and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with other local agencies that will receive a portion of the grant funds.
