RESOLUTION APPROVING STARS AWARD RECIPIENTS AND HONORABLE MENTIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors approved a Performance Incentives Program (“San Mateo County STARS”) on December 5th 2006 to recognize and reward County programs that have demonstrated outstanding customer service and program performance; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2008 the Green and Employee Suggestion award categories were added to the STARS Awards Program; and

 

WHEREAS, seventeen (17) program entries and seventy eight (78) employee suggestions were submitted for the 4th Annual STARS Awards; and

 

WHEREAS, a STARS Review Committee reviewed program entries (for Program Performance, Customer Service and Green award categories) and recommended three STARS Award recipients and five Honorable Mentions for approval to the Board of Supervisors; and

 
 
 

WHEREAS, the employee suggestions were initially reviewed by County departments and then evaluated by a labor-management review team that recommended five employee suggestions for awards: Initiate an Urgent Care Clinic and Improve Emergency Department Triage (Jan Manders, Rebecca Downs, Julie Griffiths, Ed Lipton, Isela Montenegro, Ana Rivera, Yvonne Sylten and Ed Lipton (MD), contract physician); Provide formal Spanish language classes for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses (Lawrence Cualoping); Establish a Child Welfare cross-county social work visitation agreement to cut down on travel and hotel expenses (Esther Munoz); Implement a technology upgrade to allow inspectors to immediately input inspection results utilizing their cell phones from the field right into an automated system (Charles Clark); and Send invitations for new contracts out for bid electronically (Ray Mogel); and

 

WHEREAS, the STARS Award recipients and amounts for the Program Performance, Customer Service and Green award categories are: Health System’s Prenatal to Three ($35,000); San Mateo Medical Center’s Pain Management Clinic ($5,000); and the County Green Team’s Drink Hetch Hetchy Project (5,000); and

 

WHEREAS, the recommended STARS Honorable Mention recipients are: Sheriff’s Office Domestic Firearms Compliance Unit ($7,500); Health System’s Pathways ($7,500); San Mateo Medical Center’s Pharmacy Patient Assistance Program ($7,500); Assessor’s Assessment Roll Tracker ($2,500); and Sheriff’s Office’s Virtual Servers ($1,500).

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors approve the FY 2008-09 STARS Award recipients and Honorable Mentions.
