RECOMMENDATION:
|
Approve the appointments of Juan Montalvo and Teirrah McNair to the Workforce Investment Board (WIB), each to a term expiring June 30, 2012.
|

BACKGROUND:
|
The mission of the Workforce Investment Board of San Mateo County is to establish and oversee the implementation of policies which promotes an integrated and innovative workforce development system. The WIB Board of Directors approved the applications for both Juan Montalvo and Teirrah McNair at the November 19, 2009 WIB meeting.

DISCUSSION:
|
Juan Montalvo is the Branch Manager at the City of San Mateo MANPOWER branch. Mr. Montalvo has four years experience in this industry. As a Branch Manager, Mr. Montalvo is responsible for the operations of the agency, including recruitment, workforce safety, customer relations, and candidate assessments and interviews.
|
|
|
Teirrah McNair is a Coordinator for the Sponsored Employment Program (SEP) at the City of East Palo Alto. Ms. McNair is providing training and resources to youth and young adults to meet the demands of the workplace. She also has experience establishing partnerships with local employers to create work experience for young people.
|
|
|
Both appointments will serve as private sector representatives.
