SUBJECT:

Resolution Authorizing Agreement with Political Solutions Inc., for State Advocacy Services

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a resolution authorizing the County Manager to execute an agreement with Political Solutions, Inc., for state advocacy services for the term of January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, in the amount of $150,000.

 

BACKGROUND:

Following a request for proposals (RFP) process in April 2009, the Board of Supervisors authorized the County Manager to contract with Political Solutions, Inc. for state advocacy services from May to December 2009 with an option for renewal in 2010.

 

DISCUSSION:

Political Solutions, Inc. has served as the County’s legislative advocate for a period of eight months after successfully securing a contract through a 2009 RFP process.

 

The total contract cost with Political Solutions, Inc. will not exceed $150,000, or $12,500 per month, conditioned upon the County’s receipt of a monthly report detailing state legislation, budget issues and administrative/regulatory changes of concern to the County, actions taken to advance the County’s interests, expected future action, the status of the issue and other relevant information.

 

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Resolution and Agreement as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The total cost to the County will be $150,000 per year, $12,500 per month. Funding will be included in the FY 2010-11 Recommended Budget.
