RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

SERGEANT DAWN M. CUTLER

For Thirty-Two Years of Service with the Burlingame Police Department

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, SERGEANT DAWN M. CUTLER served the Burlingame Police Department with loyalty, professionalism, integrity and dedication for thirty-two years, and is widely respected for her honesty and integrity, and is highly regarded throughout the law enforcement community; and

   

WHEREAS, SERGEANT DAWN M. CUTLER started her law enforcement career as a police intern in 1976, was hired as a per diem Police Clerk in July 1979, obtained full time status in October 1979, and in July 1980 was hired by the California Highway Patrol and assigned to a East Los Angeles office before returning to the Burlingame Police Department; and

   

WHEREAS, SERGEANT DAWN M. CUTLER returned to the Burlingame Police Department in March 1981 as a Police Office, in April 1983 became the first municipal female motorcycle officer to graduate from CHP Academy Motor Training, in November 1992 was selected as an Inspector and was promoted to Sergeant in July 1996, and has served as Acting Commander, Field Training Program Sergeant, PEER Counselor, and member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team; and

   

WHEREAS, SERGEANT DAWN M. CUTLER has had several achievements during her service with the Burlingame Police Department, including being the first municipal female officer to successfully complete CHP Motor Academy, the highest ranking female to retire from the department, receiving the 1998 Peninsula Council of Lions Service Award, being an instructor at the Department’s Citizen Academy, graduate and facilitator of the Inner Perspectives and Supervisory Leadership Institute, developing the first juvenile alcohol awareness program in San Mateo County, and has received over 100 letters for thanks and commendations for her work .

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on January 4, 2010, hereby commends SERGEANT DAWN M. CUTLER for her 32 years of service to the Burlingame Police Department, and extends its best wishes on her future endeavors with her husband, retired Burlingame Police Commander Jerry McDonnell, family and friends.
