RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING

 

MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION was established in 2002 by unanimous vote of the Mounted Patrol to engage in charitable works that benefit the equestrian environment in the Woodside area; and

   

WHEREAS, the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION was instrumental in creating a partnership between equestrians and County Parks staff to look at how to create all-weather trails in Huddart County Park; and

   

WHEREAS, upon the creation of a plan for a two-phase project to occur in 2008 and 2009, the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION led a fundraising effort that resulted in funds of $36,350 used for Phase I in 2008 and $46,548 used for Phase II; and

   

WHEREAS, the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION fundraising provided for the Phase I construction of footbridges over McGarvey Gulch on lower Crystal Springs Trail, and rocking of the upper Dean and Upper Crystal Springs Trails and Phase II construction of two footbridges and winterizing improvements on the Chinquapin and Lower Crystal Springs Trails in Huddart County Park; and

   

WHEREAS, the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION support meant the successful completion of Phase I of the All-Weather Trail Project in 2008 and Phase II of the All-Weather Trail Project in 2009; and

   

WHEREAS, the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION efforts to partner the equestrian community with the County’s Parks Department resulted in all weather trails including the Dean, Upper and Lower Crystal Springs Trail, and Chinquapin Trails in Huddart Park.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County does hereby recognize the MOUNTED PATROL FOUNDATION for its partnership in creating lasting benefit for the community and their generous support of Huddart County Park.
